David Cameron has said activists who engage in an antisemitic demonstration planned for Golders Green next month should face “the full force of the law”.
He was responding to a question from Finchley and Golders Green MP Mike Freer during Prime Minister’s Questions in the House of Commons.
Mr Cameron said the right to freedom of speech and freedom of assembly did not extend to “harassment or threatening behaviour”.
“Where any criminal offences are committed and where individuals have demonstrated antisemitic hostility they should face the full force of the law,” he said.
Mr Freer had asked what more could be done to encourage police to use public order powers to combat the rally.
A group founded to oppose the planned extremist protest “against Jewish privilege” launched on Monday with cross-communal support.
Around 50 people attended the Golders Green Together event, with leaders from Muslim, Sikh, Christian and Jewish organisations voicing their strong opposition to the proposed demonstration.
