Bayit Yehudi chairman Naftali Bennett announced Tuesday evening that he is expected to join Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on his trip to the US next week, where the Israeli prime minister is expected to alarm Congress over a looming bad nuclear deal with Iran.

“Mr. Herzog, let’s set aside our campaigning and join the prime minister’s national mission in the US,” Bennett said in a a video posted on his Facebook page.

“On Iran there is no right or left. When Iran is edging closer to acquiring nuclear weapons under the sponsorship of world powers, we have no time for politics,” he said.

“I call on heads of all parties to set aside their differences and join the prime minister in his mission against Iran. I intend to do this and be in the US on the last chance we have to stop Iran from acquiring nukes,” Bennett stated.

On Monday evening, as details of the looming US-led deal with Iran emerged from Geneva, Israel’s most respected Middle East affairs analyst, Channel 2 commentator Ehud Ya’ari suggested Netanyahu and Herzog, need to put aside their differences and make plain to US legislators that the need to thwart such an accord crosses party lines in Israel and stands as a consensual imperative.

Herzog declined the invitation. “Netanyahu’s spin about who is going to Washington must cease,” the Labor leader told foreign journalists on Tuesday. “My staunch position against a nuclear Iran is known by all in Israel and America, including the US president. I know how to make my opinion heard clearly and in a way that is influential from here or there.
