Will CoS see sense and distance itself from such open bigotry or endorse it?‏

Following up on our reporting at the Scottish Friends of Israel's of the racism emanating from the website of the Church of Scotland:

Unequivocal anti-Semitism and total denial of Jewish human rights and Self Determination of the Jewish People.

Many voices critical of the CoS, Jewish and non-Jewish, have been raised. Within the next few weeks we shall see whether the CoS will see sense and distance itself from such open bigotry or endorse it.

Meanwhile, others have spoken out. Here is a small selection (Why not voice your own views and I will try and quote from some if them if they are not too defamatory):

“The goal of the report is to use the mirage of Biblical scholarship to deny Jewish rights to historically sacred Jewish lands.....All of these "questions," therefore, are not quests for the truth, but attempts to promulgate lies under the rubric of "simply asking questions" - just like 9/11 "truthers" and Holocaust revisionists.....
Obviously they feel that the Hebrew Bible is their biggest challenge, one that does not fit in the least with their political theology, and this embarrasses them. The result is ten pages of hand waving to misdirect their readers away from the problems posed by the Hebrew Bible, and to discount the actual words of God - in their own theology - in order to justify their hatred for Israel. This is not exactly how one would expect a religious institution to act”. http://elderofziyon.blogspot.co.uk/2013/05/the-church-of-scotland-has-big-problems.html?m=1

“This is an "evil" from which Christians should be staying away”. YM, Shiloh.

“Be assured that not all of us in the Church of Scotland hold the views in this report......there is little support for things Jewish within the establishment of the Church of Scotland, but within the wider church we do have a number of ministers and leaders who love and pray for the Jewish people and their God given right to the land”. Donald, Banff.

“It is surely quite shocking for churchmen - who presumably accept the basic authenticity of the "Old Testament," as well as the lessons that Jesus the Jewish preacher drew from it - to manufacture what looks more like a deliberate hatchet job than a serious appraisal, undermining instead of underpinning fellowship......It is the rank-and-file who must show the way if the leaders fail them and, in Milton's words - directed against his contemporary preachers, false to the fundamentals of their religion, and the poisonous effect they had on their unfortunate followers - "The hungry sheep look up and are not fed, but swollen with wind and the rank mists they draw rot inwardly." WL.

"It is littered with misrepresentations of Jewish history, values and beliefs as well as basic factual errors.... It is an ignorant and tendentious document masquerading as a theological statement." Board of Deputies, (JT report. http://www.jewishtelegraph.com/gla_news.html )
"On behalf of the Jewish community of Scotland, we call upon the Church to withdraw it from the forthcoming general assembly. If the Church cannot build bridges, can it at least refrain from burning them?" Ephraim Borowski, Scottish Council of Jewish Communities (JC report, http://www.thejc.com/news/uk-news/106939/scottish-church-debate-jewish-right-land-israel)
